Justin Vélez-Hagan is the founder and executive director of The National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, Inc., an economic policy researcher at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and an adjunct professor of economics. His work has been featured in numerous national publications such as: Forbes, Politico, The Hill, Fox News Latino, and The Huffington Post. He has also been a requested guest on the Fox Business Network, Voice of America, Al Jazeera America, HuffPost Live, and Fusion. Previously, Vélez-Hagan worked as an international developer of assisted living facilities and founded D.C. Concrete Technologies, which was a frequent guest on HGTV’s Curb Appeal and NBC’s House Smarts. He is the author of the upcoming book The Common Sense behind Basic Economics (Lexington Books, 2015) and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Vélez-Hagan holds an MBA degree from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is completing his Ph.D. in economic policy from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
